Foggy and humid aura, additionally negative temperature during the night, are a signal that we can start feeding the birds. In the current season, the amount of readily available food decreases, and there are shorter days and various precipitations. An important factor also in favor of feeding birds is the fact that man has changed the natural environment.

I we decide to do this, let us remember the "P~P~R" principle, i.e. food~order~regularity.

We absolutely do not feed birds with bread or leftovers from the table.

Let's serve our winged friends unprocessed and most importantly ~natural products. Species such as sparrows, finches, siskin love sunflower, millet, nuts (unsalted), oatmeal, dried fruit (non-candied). For blackbirds or fieldfares (which have decided to winter with us) let's lay out halves of apples, and for tits let's spread pork fat (unsalted and change it every one and a half weeks). In turn, jays or magpies will not despise acorns. The market offer also includes bird dumplings (fat balls) or ready-to-use mixtures.

Place a drinking bowl with fresh water near the feeder and feeding places, preferably changed twice a day, especially during frosts.

Let's keep a constant order and hygiene when feeding, it will help to avoid the spread of diseases and parasites.
When we started feeding, remember to regularly feed until the end of winter. Birds get used to the place of feeding and our regularity is then a factor determining the fate of animals.

Despite additional feeding, especially during milder weather conditions, birds do not give up searching for a natural source of food, such as wintering insects and their various stages of development, plant seeds or fruits of trees and shrubs.

If we follow the above rules and regularities, we will be able to enjoy the presence, in addition to the above-mentioned species, including robins, wrens, woodpeckers, greenfinches, nuthatches, siskins, serfs and maybe ... a hawk or kestrel.
